The following email was sent today to the MIT community by Paul L. Joskow, the chair of MIT's Climate Symposia Organizing Committee and the Elizabeth and James Killian Professor of Economics, Emeritus.

To the members of the MIT community,

I write to you as chair of the MIT Climate Symposia Organizing Committee, appointed recently by President Reif. During the next academic year (2019–2020), MIT will host approximately six symposia to address the range of major global climate challenges identified in the October 2015 MIT Plan for Action on Climate Change (for short, the climate action plan, or CAP).

To make sure these discussions focus on the topics of greatest interest to the people of MIT, we are asking the community to offer suggestions through this online survey. The Organizing Committee will then choose the symposia topics, designate an MIT expert to lead each one, and announce the schedule.

We encourage every member of the community to use the symposia series to learn more about these urgent issues and to find new ways to engage with colleagues to address the climate challenges confronting our planet.

We look forward to receiving your suggestions.

Sincerely,

Paul L. Joskow
