CEHS to study nuclear-waste health hazards

The Center for Environmental Health Sciences is developing a multidisciplinary program to investigate the health hazards of nuclear waste. An Institute-wide organizational meeting about the program will be held on Thursday, March 19 at 4pm in Rm 24-213.

The program will have three main aspects: investigating a site contaminated with nuclear waste, biological effects of radiation, and examining health records of areas near nuclear installations. The results of the program will be used to quantify and model the effect of radioactive waste on human health. As with other Center programs, results will be communicated to the public.
