Nackoul also won gold medals in the snatch event with a lift of 142 kilos (314 lbs.), the clean and jerk with a lift of 180 kilos (396 lbs.) and won the overall title with a combined total weight of 322 kilos (720 lbs.).
With his performance, Nackoul qualified to represent the United States at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia this July. He previously represented the U.S. in weightlifting competitions in Romania and Malaysia.
Regis Becker, Nackoul’s coach, said that the senior has many more chances to further his career. “Mike’s summer options include the World University Games in Kazan, Russia, the U.S. National Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio and the best possibility of making the U.S Senior World Weightlifting Team.”
As a sophomore at the 2011 National Collegiate Weightlifting Championships in Louisiana, Nackoul took third overall in the 85-kilo class with a combined total weight of 301 kilos (663 lbs.), finishing behind 2008 Olympian Kendrick Farris.
