In collaboration with departments, labs, and centers (DLCs), IS&T has been testing IE9 since its initial release by Microsoft and has worked on resolving compatibility issues with various internal and external sites. IS&T has found that
- Upgrading to IE9 from IE8 and IE7 works as expected, preserving user settings, bookmarks, and MIT personal certificates.
- IE9's new features and improvements in security and usability will change to some extent how users interact with the browser.
To obtain a new MIT personal certificate, IE 9 users should run CertAid for Internet Explorer. CertAid for Internet Explorer is not needed for win.mit.edu domain users.
For help with installing or using IE9, contact the IS&T Help Desk at 617-253-1101 or firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also submit a request online.
IS&T has published IE9 product information for MIT on its website.
