The memo below, regarding temporary space, was sent Dec. 17 from the director and managing director for real estate, MIT Investment Management Company, to tenants and employees in One Broadway.

We have received inquiries from some of you about whether there is any office space available that could be used on a temporary basis until tenants can go back to occupy One Broadway.

At this time we have identified and are working to make available approximately 11,000 square feet that might serve as a base for some tenant representatives. In addition we are attempting to expedite a contract to take possession of another 25,000 square foot building over the next day or so and hope that we can make it suitable for occupancy.

Both of these properties are unfurnished and cannot be subdivided. To facilitate the management of these spaces with multiple users, we have entered into a license agreement with Tim Rowe of Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) to run these locations similar to the way he runs his business enterprise at One Broadway. MIT has agreed to provide these spaces free of charge to CIC with the understanding that they are to be offered to all tenants of One Broadway on an equitable basis. Tim has graciously offered to coordinate the management and use of the spaces and to provide some basic furniture and other infrastructure services to One Broadway tenants at cost. We appreciate Tim's offer to help while we continue to work diligently to get One Broadway available for occupancy.

Please let us know by 4:00 PM Monday if you would be interested in using these spaces, understanding that you would be sharing them with other building tenants in an open configuration. If there is more demand for these spaces than there is space available, the spaces will be allocated to tenants on a pro-rata basis, based on the tenant's square footage within One Broadway.

Again, we understand the difficulty you have experienced as a result of the accident and want to do whatever we can to make it possible for you to restore your normal business operations. We are continuing discussions with the Cambridge Fire Department and city's Inspectional Services Department on a plan to allow One Broadway to be opened and safely occupied. However, if you are in need of temporary space in the meantime, please send an e-mail expressing your interest in this temporary space to:

Tim Rowe (rowe@cicr.com) with a copy to John Sullivan at Meredith & Grew (jfsullivan@m-g.com).
