Getting down to brass tacks

Damian Burke, a sophomore in electrical engineering and computer science, learns about "Brass Instrument Making" as he constructs his own handmade replica of a 17th-century natural trumpet. Among other things, he and other students learned to solder silver, bend tubing, hammer a bell flare and burnish it to shape.
