"Chemicals and Society" is the topic of a conference at MIT June 11-12 that will include panels on the history of public concerns about chemicals and on the effectiveness of the chemical industry's efforts to improve its environmental performance and image. The event is free to members of the MIT community.
Papers will be presented on the general themes of each panel. In addition, representatives from industry, the US Environmental Protection Agency and other stakeholders will respond to questions associated with the panels.
Afternoon workshops will explore issues such as how much and what kind of chemical testing needs to be done, and the potential for cooperative regulatory approaches.
