As many as four MIT student filmmakers will compete in the Boston Grand Finale of Campus MovieFest, the world's largest student film festival, to be held Friday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. at John Hancock Hall (180 Berkeley St., Boston).
Sixty teams of students spent five days last month making five-minute films with the theme of "Five" (to celebrate MovieFest's fifth year). The film teams used Apple laptops, digital video cameras and tech support, provided by the festival. Sixteen finalists, in categories ranging from comedy to documentary, were selected by a panel of MIT students, staff and faculty last month at an MIT finale in Room 10-250.
The next round of MIT finalists -- to be announced at the Grand Finale -- will compete against student filmmakers from Emerson, Harvard, Northeastern and Tufts for prizes including the latest Apple iPods, Delta plane tickets and more. A citywide panel of students, staff and community members will judge the finalists.
