The Tufts Health Plan has a recent benefit enhancement, the Benefits Office has announced. Effective March 1, Tufts Health Plan will continue to encourage -- but will no longer require -- plan members to call their primary care physician (PCP) following emergency medical treatment to be covered. A member who seeks emergency services will no longer be denied coverage for failure to call his or her PCP within 48 hours.
The plan is making this change to help reduce barriers for members having emergencies, but members are still encouraged to call their PCP to ensure appropriate follow-up care. Plan members with questions about this change should call Tufts Health Plan Member Services Office at (800) 462-0224.
