MIT Cable has picked up the California-based Classic Arts Showcase, a free, nonprofit satellite arts programming service which airs music, drama, short films and animation.
Airing on channel 34, Classic Arts Showcase's schedule is filled with five-minute segments programmed in eight-hour blocks that repeat twice during the 24-hour broadcast. According to Randy Winchester, facilities coordinator in Information Systems, MIT Cable will initially carry the service with monoaural audio for 23-hours a day on weekdays (with an interruption between 4-5am) and 24 hours a dayduring weekends.
