The Aftermath of Fukushima

Dr. Akira Omoto will discuss the status of the Fukushima Plant cleanup, the dose levels resulting from the accident, the safety lessons learned from the events at the Fukushima plant, and the likely impact on regulations of nuclear power in Japan.

Dr. Omoto is a former Director of the Department of Nuclear Reactors at the IAEA, which he left in 2010. Prior to that position he was Head of the Planning Office for Nuclear Energy at Tokyo Electric Power Company.

Co-hosted by the Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems and the American Nuclear Society Student Chapter at MIT.
