Name change for graduate student dean, office

The position of dean for graduate students, currently held by Steven R. Lerman, has been renamed the dean for graduate education, Chancellor Phillip Clay announced earlier this week.

Clay also said that as part of the name change, which took effect March 31, the office reporting to Dean Lerman will be the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education (DGE) instead of the Graduate Students Office (GSO).

"These new titles do not signal any change in the breadth of involvement of the office nor in its goals," Clay said. "Rather, the changes are consonant with titles in sister institutions and parallel those for the Dean for Undergraduate Education and the Office of the Dean for Undergraduate Education."
