Graduate student wins first Infineon Fellowship in EECS

Benton H. Calhoun, an MIT graduate student from Lexington, Va., has been chosen to receive the first Infineon Technologies Fellowship in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Calhoun received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia in 2000. While an undergraduate, he was awarded the Telecommunications Techniques Corp. Student Award for academic achievement, and the Miller Award for leadership in 1999. He was on the dean's list for eight semesters.

Calhoun, who expects to receive the S.M. from MIT's Microsystems Technology Laboratory next month, plans to continue working toward the Ph.D. The $25,000 Infineon Fellowship covers the 2002-03 academic year.

Siemens Semiconductors became Infineon Technologies in 1999. The home office of Infineon Technologies is in Munich.
