For those enrolled in Medicare supplement plans, the annual enrollment period ends Tuesday, Nov. 30. Employees and retirees of the Institute have until Friday, Dec. 3 to enroll in MIT's new Long-Term Care Insurance Plan effective December 1, 1999. Spouses/spousal equivalents and surviving spouses (18 or older), parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandparents-in-law of eligible employees and retirees are also eligible to participate.
As part of the initial plan offering, eligible actively-at-work employees will automatically be accepted into the plan regardless of health status. Spouses or spousal equivalents of eligible employees will be subject to modified underwriting. They will be required to answer not more than five health questions during the enrollment process. All others, including retirees, must provide evidence of insurability by completing a health questionnaire. After December 3, 1999, all eligible participants (including actively-at-work employees) will be required to provide proof of good health to apply for coverage.

Two seminars relating to the MIT Supplemental 401(k) Plan will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7. "Understanding Your MIT Retirement Plans" will take place at 11am in the Student Centef's Twenty Chimneys, and "Building Blocks of Investing" will be held at noon in the same location.
