MIT gets discount from UPS

MIT Mail Services and United Parcel Service have entered into an agreement to provide Second Day Air delivery service to the MIT community. This agreement complements the overnight express partnership with DHL.

UPS will provide discounted Second Business Day delivery, either morning or afternoon, for any MIT department requesting such service. MIT's discount will be based on the volume of shipments the Institute sends via UPS, up to 20 percent off retail.

Procedures for Second Day Air are the same as for regular UPS ground service. After packing the material, customers should fill out a requisition and take the letter or package to the shipping and receiving area in Rm 20C-018. Mail Services will pick up the package from offices for a fee; call x3-6000 to arrange pickup.

Senders may check on their package's delivery status on the World Wide Web at <http://www.ups.com>.

Mail Services strongly encourages MIT offices to use this service when appropriate. There are many times when a package does not require overnight service, but is nevertheless urgent. Second Day Air provides an economical alternative to overnight express.

Anyone with questions may call MIT Mail Services at x3-6000.
