MIT staff member Philip Lima is planning his "Winter's Journey" right in the middle of the summer.
On Wednesday, Aug. 10, Lima, a well-respected baritone who has performed around the world, will perform Schubert's "Die Winterreise" ("The Winter's Journey") with pianist Beverly Orlove, at 7:30 p.m. in Killian Hall. Schubert's cycle of 24 songs depicts the winter wanderings of a man, driven from the warmth of human community, who is destined for isolation, loss and loneliness.
Lima is the coordinator of staff diversity initiatives in the Human Resources Department.

Over the last five seasons, Lima has appeared in opera, oratorio and recital across the United States and in Germany, Italy, South Korea and Ukraine. He has performed in such diverse and challenging works as "Samson et Dalila," "The Rape of Lucretia," "The Crucible," Bernstein's "Mass," "Carmina Burana," "Belshazzar's Feast" and Mahler's "Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen."
