MIT to close early on Christmas Eve

MIT will close at noon on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24). After 12:00 p.m., all but essential operations will be suspended, it was announced last week by Laura Avakian, vice president for human resources.

The afternoon of Dec. 24 is considered a special holiday closing and not an institute holiday. Employees whose normal work schedule would include working after noon Dec. 24 are eligible for Special Holiday Closing pay. Part-time employees on the regular payroll are eligible, but employees on the voucher payroll are not eligible.

For more information on how the closing affects pay policies, contact your department head or see section 5.9 of the Personnel Policy Manual.
