MIT will close at noon on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24). After 12:00 p.m., all but essential operations will be suspended, it was announced last week by Laura Avakian, vice president for human resources.
The afternoon of Dec. 24 is considered a special holiday closing and not an institute holiday. Employees whose normal work schedule would include working after noon Dec. 24 are eligible for Special Holiday Closing pay. Part-time employees on the regular payroll are eligible, but employees on the voucher payroll are not eligible.
