The 10th annual Cambridge First Day celebration at MIT on Tuesday, June 11 will honor four Cambridge institutions that serve the homeless.
Awards will be presented to CASPAR Inc., On the Rise Inc., Shelter Inc., and Our Place, the Cambridge Salvation Army's children's center. Each will receive a $1,000 check and a framed Cambridge First Day 2002 award.
The program begins at 11 a.m. in the mezzanine lounge of the Stratton Student Center. Chancellor Phillip L. Clay will be the main speaker. Mayor Michael A. Sullivan will greet the guests. The awards ceremony will be followed by an informal buffet luncheon.
Established in 1993 by President Charles M. Vest, Cambridge First Day provides an opportunity for MIT to express its appreciation to the Cambridge community for the vital partnerships that exist among MIT and local businesses, public officials and residents of Cambridge. The event symbolizes the Institute's and the City's shared vision for the community.
Jointly planned and hosted by MIT and the City of Cambridge since 1997, Cambridge First Day focuses on a different theme every year.
