Worker injured at Stata Site

An ironworker working on the tower crane at the west side of the Stata Center construction site was injured when a steel block fell across his legs on Monday, March 19, MIT police reported.

Frank McKinnon, 60, suffered lacerations on both legs and a broken ankle and is expected to recover fully, according to a Beacon-Skanska spokesman. Beacon-Skanska is the general contractor for the Stata Center project.

MIT Campus Police Officer Teresa Gomes was first on the accident scene, followed within moments by EMTs, Cambridge fire and police personnel, and an ambulance, which rushed Mr. McKinnon to Massachusetts General Hospital.
