The Technology and Culture Forum (TCF) will present two events next week: a talk by Institute Professor Noam Chomsky and a panel discussion on AIDS and the future of Africa.
On Tuesday, April 10, Professor Chomsky will speak on "Institutions vs. People: Will the Species Self-Destruct?" in Rm 26-100 at 7pm. The event will be broadcast live via MIT cable and the TCF web site.
On Wednesday, April 11, the panel discussion, "Can AIDS Be Stopped? A Partnership for the Future of Botswana," will take place in Rm 34-101 at 4:30pm. On the panel will be Dr. Richard Marlink, director of the Harvard AIDS Institute; Dr. Linda Distlerath, president of Merck Co. Foundation; and Dr. Patson Mazonde, director of health services for the Botswana Ministry of Health. This collaboration, which also includes funding by the Gates Foundation, is one that challenges traditional models of thinking and working in the arena of AIDS research and treatment. The event will be audio broadcast via the TCF web site.
