Airline, rail ticket fees increase

As of late August, many airlines again cut the commissions they pay to travel agencies. As a result, MIT's approved agencies have deemed it necessary to increase their processing fees for airline and rail tickets.

MIT has approved an increase in the processing fee from $14 to $24 per ticket, effective Sept. 10. The $24 fee will only be paid to MIT's approved travel agencies: the Travel Collaborative, Navigant International/Boston and OT&T Travel Management. However, the MIT/MASCO discount agreements with the airlines more than offset this fee.
