A generous gift to the Department of Mechanical Engineering from Ralph Cross (left foreground), who received his SB in mechanical engineering in 1933, will fund a new student lounge in Building 3 and a state-of-the art CAD/CAM lab in Building 35. Also at last week's presentation were (left to right) Nam Suh, the Ralph E. and Eloise F. Cross Professor and department head; President Charles Vest; Ralph Fenner, managing director of the department's undergraduate teaching labs; graduating senior Melissa Barbagelata, president of the MIT chapter of the Pi Tau Sigma mechanical engineering honor society; Mr. Cross's daughter, Carol Cross Wodtke; and his son Dennis Cross.
