poetry@mit series presents two women poets Thursday

Elaine Equi and Ange Mlinko will read from their latest works on Thursday, April 8 at 7pm in Rm 6-120.

"The Manhattan-based poet [Equi] reflects the New York School sensibility at its most playful in this ninth volume, full of philosophic nuggets, jokey wordplay, and tiny, sometimes one-wordlines," wrote Kirkus Reviews about Ms. Equi's new book, Voice-Over (Coffee House Press).

Philadelphia-born Ange Mlinko, who recently moved to Brooklyn after living in Boston and Providence, will read from her just-published first book of poems Matinees (Zoland Books). "Mlinko's long lines turn on a dime and her poems explode like bottle rockets," said William Corbett, writer-in-residence at MIT and organizer of the poetry@mit series.

The poetry@mit series is sponsored by the Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies. For more information, call x3-7894.
