The appointments of Vincent Vitto and Brian P. Sack as assistant directors of Lincoln Laboratory have been announced by Professor Walter E. Morrow Jr., director. Also announced was the appointment of Vincent W.S. Chan as head of the Communication Division.
Mr. Vitto had been head of the Communication Division since July 1988. He was previously associate head of the Aerospace Division responsible for space surveillance projects. Mr. Vitto joined Lincoln Laboratory in February 1967. He holds the BS degree from the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and the MS from Northeastern University, both in physics.
Dr. Sack joined Lincoln in 1988 as associate head of the Administration Division after 23 years with the Navy. His last assignment was as officer-in-charge of the David Taylor Research Center's Carderock Laboratory in Carderock, MD. In 1991 he became head of Lincoln's Administration Division. Dr. Sack holds the BS degree in metallurgy from the University of Idaho and the PhD in metallurgy and materials science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Chan, who holds the SB, EE and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from MIT, joined Lincoln in 1977. He also serves as the director of the Consortium on Wideband Optical Networks formed by MIT, AT&T and Digital Equipment Corp.
Mr. Vitto, Dr. Sack and Dr. Chan are members of the Lincoln Laboratory Steering Committee.
