Professor Yossi Sheffi has been selected to receive the Salzberg Lifetime Award from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, recognized as one of the most prestigious awards in the field of transportation and supply chain management.
Sheffi, the Elisha Gray II Professor of Engineering Systems and director of both the Engineering Systems Division and the Center for Transportation and Logistics, is being honored with the Salzberg Award for his lifetime achievements in the areas of logistics and supply chains.
In a letter to Sheffi on behalf of the Whitman School and Syracuse University, Whitman School Dean Melvin Stith wrote: "There are very few individuals who are so dominant in their respective fields that they have an almost universal association to that field. You are one of those individuals. As a respected scholar, educator, innovator, and entrepreneur, your contributions have made and will have a lasting legacy in this discipline." Stith further remarked that Sheffi's "work on supply chain resiliency has become even more significant in the wake of so many recent global events."
Sheffi will accept the award at the Harry E. Salzberg Memorial Program on Oct. 6, and will deliver a talk titled "Risk and Resilience — A Look into the Future."
