The Emile Bustani Middle East Seminar at MIT will celebrate its 24th anniversary with two lectures this fall on contemporary Middle Eastern affairs.
Ervand Abrahamian, Distinguished Professor of History at Baruch College and Graduate Center, City University of New York, will speak on "The Present Crisis in Iran" on Sept. 29. On Oct. 6, Shibley Telhami will discuss "Palestinians, Israelis and the Making of Peace: What the Results of the Latest Public Opinion Survey Tell Us." Telhami is the Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development at the University of Maryland and senior fellow of the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution.
Both lectures are open to the public and will take place at 4:30 p.m. in E51-095 (70 Memorial Drive). The seminar is funded by the Bustani family of Beirut, Lebanon, in memory of the late Emile M.
