EurekaFest at MIT, a multi-day celebration of the power of invention and inventors, will kick off on Thursday, June 26. Organized by the Lemelson-MIT Program, the second annual festival features a series of events in Cambridge and Boston that inspire youth, honor role models and encourage creativity and problem solving.
The Lemelson-MIT Program will also announce the winner of its biggest prize of the year--the $500,000 Lemelson-MIT Prize--as a precursor to EurekaFest on Wednesday, June 25. The prize honors an outstanding mid-career inventor dedicated to improving the world through technological invention and innovation.
Most of the EurekaFest events are open to the public, and run from the InvenTeams Showcase (which features high school teams awarded grants by the Lemelson-MIT program) at Kirsch Auditorium on Thursday to a series of exhibits at the Museum of Science in Boston on Saturday.
