Among the projects recently supported by the Alumni Class Funds is a student-written booklet to accompany an exhibit of photographs of particle physics experiments currently on display at the MIT Museum. The students from Janet Conrad's subject 8.226 (Forty-Three Orders of Magnitude) describe the "back-story" behind the photographs — which originate from the book, "Time Machine," by Stanley Greenberg and depict experiments across five continents.
The Funds are made possible by contributions from members of the classes of 1951, 1955, 1972, and 1999. Grants typically range from $10,000 to $50,000 and cover a wide variety of creative and academic projects. Larger scale and multiple-year projects, and project renewals, will also be considered. Funding commitments are made annually.
Proposals for the 2014-2015 academic year are due Friday, Jan. 31. For more information, contact the Office of Faculty Support at 617-253-6776 or write to email@example.com.
