Cai Guo-Qiang’s monumental white granite sculpture Ring Stone is the artist’s first work for a university campus. Located in the North Garden adjacent to the MIT Sloan School of Management (Building E62), the artwork celebrates the Sloan’s educational and cultural ties with China and will be on permanent display as part of MIT's public art collection, which is a program of the MIT List Visual Arts Center.
The artist will attend the dedication of the work on May 10, at 6:30 p.m., which will take place at the site of the sculpture. Preceding the dedication, the artist will be the keynote speaker for the MIT China Forum, titled "Dialogues: Between Different Cultures" at 5:30 p.m. in the MIT Wong Auditorium, Tang Center (Building E51).
