Building 38 evacuated

MIT Building 38 was evacuated about noon today due to the presence of a strong chemical odor, later identified by Boston Fire Department and MIT Environmental Health and Safety personnel as floor wax.

No injuries were reported. Personnel in the building went to the Stata Center.

Building 38, located on Vassar Street, houses the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the Central Machine Shop and the Scanning-Electron-Beam Lithography Facility.
