MIT will remain open during the Democratic National Convention to be held at Boston's Fleet Center from July 26-29, but MIT is encouraging flexibility for those whose commutes will be disrupted by traffic and security measures.

The institute has also set up a web site focused on the DNC's impact on the community.

Human Resources is urging supervisors to grant requests for vacations during the convention period (though extra vacation time is not being granted to employees), telecommuting and flexible scheduling when possible.

The web site at http://web.mit.edu/dnc will provide updates on traffic patterns including web cams trained on Memorial Drive, services available on campus during that week, telecommuting resources, HR policies and convention-related events in Cambridge.
