Kristina Holton

Bridgeton High School,

Bridgeton, N.J.

Kristina Holton--scholar, athlete, musician--felt right at home from the moment she set foot on campus. "MIT just fit," Holton told the Bridgeton News. "I just knew this is where I need to go when I visited."

Holton, the class valedictorian, was captain of the girls' tennis team and played third base on the softball team. She also played trombone in the marching band and performed with Bridgeton's award winning jazz band and the concert band. In addition, she was a percussionist for two years in the Bay Atlantic Symphony, whose members are chosen from the top high school musicians in southern New Jersey and Delaware.

"I'm really looking forward to going to MIT because it's really the first challenge I'm going to be up against," Holton said.
