For those who quail at the thought of braving the mall on the day after Thanksgiving, the MIT Museum offers its fourth annual Friday After Thanksgiving (F.A.T.) Chain Reaction, featuring artist/inventor Arthur Ganson.
The program will be held on Friday, Nov. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. in duPont gymnasium. Participants link self-created miniature chain reactions together to form one giant chain reaction at the end of the program.
"This annual event brings hundreds of people together to enjoy a type of choreographed science," said Beryl Rosenthal, the musuem's director of exhibitions and public programs.
Teams can bring their own contraptions, with MIT student teams and Ganson on hand to help with connections. Past participants have included Girl Scout troops, MIT clubs and living groups, and family teams.
Advance registration is required. Admission is $5 for adults; $2 for students, seniors, and children under 18; and free with an MIT ID. Admission includes entrance into the museum. For more information, call 253-5927.
