Campus construction update

MEMORIAL DRIVE

Daytime pavement grinding on Memorial Drive around the Endicott and Wadsworth street intersections will take place during the week of Dec. 10. Noise and dust adjacent to the construction will result.

NSTAR TRANSMISSION LINE

NStar's installation of a 115 kv transmission line along Memorial Drive from Pleasant Street near Howard Johnson's to the Longfellow Bridge will continue through the winter. Lane restrictions may cause traffic delays.

MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE

City storm drains will be installed along Albany Street from Massachusetts Avenue to Pacific Street. Albany Street will be closed through Dec. 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Emergency vehicles will have access to the street.

MEDIA LAB EXPANSION

Demolition of Building E20 is complete. Demolition of Building E10 and the loading dock continues, generating noise, dust, odor and vibrations. The work will be discontinued for study and exam week (Dec. 13-21). Jersey barriers are in place to protect pedestrians from street traffic.

CHEMISTRY BUILDING

Work on the building's facade will cause vibrations. Some disruptions for occupants will occur as offices and labs are moved. Areas south and west of the building may be fenced off to accommodate staging requirements.

VASSAR STREET UTILITIES

Construction continuing through the winter is about to begin on a drain line running from Massachusetts Avenue to the Stata Center. Two lanes of traffic will remain, although parking along this route may be restricted.

STATA CENTER

Slurry wall and pool foundation cutting for tunnel connection is underway. The Alumni Pool may experience some vibration and noise.

SIMMONS HALL

The west end of Vassar Street is being excavated to install utilities. This may affect traffic flow.

ZESIGER SPORTS & FITNESS CENTER

Roof work, drywall framing, rough plumbing, casting of floor slabs and fireproofing continue. Resulting noise may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
