Tcherepnins to perform

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Alexander Tcherepnin, MIT's Aurelius Ensemble will present "The Tcherepnins Live," a concert featuring the music of four generations of the musical family.

The concert, which will be presented on February 12 and 13, will feature chamber music of Nikolai, Alexander, Ivan and Stefan Tcherepnin, including the world premiere of Stefan Tcherepnin's sextet for flute, clarinet, bassoon, violin, viola and cello, commissioned specifically for this celebration.

Guest performers include Sue-Ellen Herschman-Tcherepnin, flutist and wife of the late Ivan Tcherepnin, and conductor Dante Anzolini, director of the MIT Symphony. Stefan Tcherepnin, the youngest composing member of the family, will also attend. (See Arts Calendar for concert information.)
