The Benefits Office reminds eligible members of the MIT community that the annual benefits open enrollment period will be held from Monday, Nov. 13 through Wednesday, Nov. 22. Personal Enrollment Guides are being sent to all benefits-eligible employees in campus mail starting tomorrow (November 9). The guides summarize employees' current benefit coverage and provide instructions for making benefits elections.
Employees do not need to do anything if they want to maintain their current levels of coverage for 2001 unless they want to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account for 2001. Like last year, they will have the choice of enrolling by phone or via the web using Netscape.
Anyone who does not receive his or her enrollment guide by November 15 should e-mail benefits-www@mit.edu or call the Benefits Office at x3-0500. Lincoln Laboratory employees should contact the Lincoln Benefits Office at x7055.
Dental changes
The Benefits Office has announced an improvement in the Delta Dental Plan. Effective January 1, Level 3 Dental Benefits will be enhanced and the plan will pay 50 percent of the usual, customary and reasonable fee for prosthodontic/major dental services. This category includes inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges, dentures and partials. The maximum dental benefit per year is $1,500 per person.
Employees are invited to attend one of the brown-bag lunch presentations sponsored by Benefits. These informal sessions will provide information about open enrollment and the benefits changes that will take effect on January 1. Seating is limited. Those interested in attending should reserve by e-mail or call Benefits on campus at x3-0500.
The lunch presentations will be held on Monday, Nov. 13 from noon-1pm; Friday, Nov. 17; and Tuesday, Nov. 22. All three will take place from noon-1pm in Rm E19-220.
