Police to start towing on Amherst, Danforth Sts.

Starting Monday, Oct. 25, Campus Police will start a more aggressive parking enforcement program for Amherst and Danforth Streets whereby parked cars without the proper MIT parking permit will be towed.

The parking spaces on Amherst and Danforth Streets are reserved for the residents of nearby MIT housing units. However, people attending athletic events or functions in Kresge Auditorium, the chapel or the Student Center often park in these spaces. Campus Police have ticketed vehicles parked in these spaces without a permit, but this still doesn't make the spaces available to permit holders.

Vehicles that do not have a proper MIT parking permit will be towed away at the owner's expense from Amherst and Danforth Streets on the first offense. Event organizers using MIT facilities on the west side of campus whould keep this in mind during the planning process.
