Sloan seeks contributions for 'digital time capsule'

What will life online look like in 2004? How would you encapsulate business on the Internet in 1999? What do you think the future holdsfor the Internet, business and education?

The Sloan School of Management is seeking ideas and contributions to its digital time capsule that will be "sealed" into Sloan's new web site, to be launched at a special event on February 4 in the Wong Auditorium starting at 5pm. The Digital Time Capsule Contest celebrates the role of the Internet in business and invites the entire MIT community to participate.

Entries can be examples of digital products, programs, people and ideas that capture the spirit and essence of the Internet and business and education at the beginning of 1999. The capsule also will include predictions from alumni/ae and luminaries about what the world can expect from the Internet in the decade ahead. The capsule will be opened in the year 2004.

To submit a prediction or an idea, complete an entry blank on the web by Wednesday, Jan. 20. Entries will be judged by a panel of experts from industry, as well as students, faculty and staff from Sloan and other parts of MIT. Questions about the contest can be directed to webmaster@sloan.mit.edu. Participants and contributions will be recognized at the February 4 launch event and on Sloan's new web site.
