Diana Laurillard, professor of educational technology at The Open University in England, will speak at a public forum on "Adaptive Changes in Higher Education" on Wednesday, March 3 from 5:30-7pm in Rm 6-120. Her March 3-5 visit to MIT is co-sponsored by the Technology and Culture Forum and the Center for Advanced Educational Services.
Woodie Flowers, the Pappalardo Professor of Mechanical Engineering, will act as moderator for the forum. Respondents will be Seth Teller, the X-Consortium Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering; biology graduate student Mitchell McVey; and Jeremy Sher, a senior in mathematics. The event is free and open to the public.
Professor Laurillard, the pro-vice-chancellor of Open University, is an expert in technology-enhanced education and distance learning. She heads The Open University's Institute of Educational Technology and is author of Rethinking University Teaching: A Framework for the Effective Use of Educational Technology (Routledge, 1993).
