Manley service set

A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 5pm in the MIT Chapel for Michael Manley, a freshman resident of MacGregor House, who died Saturday afternoon from injuries sustained in a fall from an upper-story window of the dormitory, MIT Campus Police reported.

He was taken by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival shortly after 3pm. The death is being considered an apparent suicide, pending the completion of an investigation into the circumstances. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

MIT officials contacted Mr. Manley's family in Tempe, AZ, on Saturday. The housemasters, resident tutors, members of the Dean's Office, the Medical Department and other staff were available at the dormitory over the weekend to provide counseling and assistance to his friends and other students.

A psychiatrist is on call for counseling at the Medical Center (x3-4481). A dean on call may be contacted through Campus Police (x3-1212). The chaplains may be reached by e-mail at chaplains@mit.edu.
