MIT issues statement on dorm party

Statement issued by Kenneth D. Campbell, MIT spokesman and Director of the News Office:

MIT is investigating an unauthorized party at an MIT dormitory where a 20-year-old woman student from Simmons College was found ill but conscious at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The woman was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was treated and released.

She had been found, vomiting, in a ladies room at MIT's Baker House dormitory, 362 Memorial Drive. People at the house called Campus Police and reported the medical emergency.

This incident is being treated very seriously. MIT officials are investigating and expect to take appropriate disciplinary action once the facts are clear. The party was not registered and was unauthorized.
