Stowe speaks at next Women's League breakfast

The Women's League continues its new service for women in the MIT community this month with the third in its "power breakfast" series of informal get-togethers that explore the role of women in the academy.

Each breakfast features a menu prepared by chef Peter Rhein, a guest speaker from a member of the MIT faculty or staff, and the opportunity for informal conversation with colleagues. On Wednesday, March 25, Barbara Stowe, vice president for resource development, will be featured as the guest speaker in the third breakfast of the series.

Ms. Stowe came to MIT in 1981 and was appointed to her current position in 1994, becoming one of the first two women ever to be named an Institute vice president. She now leads a staff of approximately 130. During her tenure at MIT, she has developed the support structure for school-based fundraising, directed the Foundations program, and led the Institute's fundraising efforts with alumni/ae in Europe and the Middle East. She has 20 years of experience in fundraising for research universities and health care organizations.

The March 25 event begins promptly at 8am and runs until 9:30am. Seating is limited; reserve a space by purchasing a ticket from Sis de Bordenave, administrative coordinator in the Women's League office, Rm 10-342, x3-3656. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $10 each.
