Mail tip #1

Beginning with this issue, Tech Talk will offer a series of helpful suggestions devised by the reengineering Mail Team to help our large community make better use of the mails.

Using a standard address format makes incoming mail more easily read by machine and speeds delivery. Other formats delay delivery to MIT and to you. Here's how your MIT address should appear:

Name or department name
MIT building, room number
77 Massachusetts Ave.
Cambridge, MA 02139-4307

For example, this is how the first two lines should read:

Department of Infinity
MIT 99-999
