Blake Eagle, chief real estate consultant for Frank Russell Company, will become chairman of the MIT Center for Real Estate (CRE) in January. He will succeed current chairman Thomas A. Steele who has finished his term of office and will return to the real estate industry.
"We welcome Blake on board," said Mr. Steele. "As I have, I think he will find the chairmanship a rewarding experience and the Center will benefit from his wealth of industry knowledge. Blake is on the cutting edge of providing liquidity for real estate assets held by major institutions."
As chief investment strategist for Russell, an international asset consultant, Mr. Eagle led the effort to establish the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, and was also instrumental in developing the Russell-NCREIF Property Index, the Russell Canadian Property Index and the BOMA-Russell Australian Property Index. Mr. Eagle .
As chairman of the MIT CRE, Mr. Eagle, who will take a three-year leave of absence from Russell, will serve as the primary liaison with the Center`s members and work with faculty and staff to ensure the Center's programs meet the long term needs of the real estate industry.
The MIT CRE promotes research and education in real estate development, management and investment and facilitates communication among members of the real estate industry worldwide, both with each other and with the academic community. Its major activities include a 12-month Master of Science in Real Estate degree program, professional education for real estate practitioners and research on important issues in the field.
