MIT has been named one of the top three private colleges in the Northeast in the latest Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Ed rankings, reports Dave Pettit for The Wall Street Journal. 

MIT placed second in Times Higher Ed’s 2018 arts and humanities ranking, reports Ellie Bothwell. “The multidisciplinary nature of the institute is certainly invaluable – not only for educating citizens, engineers, scholars, artists and scientists, but for sustaining the institute’s capacity to tackle challenges,” explains Melissa Nobles, dean of the MIT School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

UPI reporter Ed Adamczyk writes that MIT was named to the number five spot in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 best college rankings. “Factors for the rankings include graduation and retention rates, surveys of college officials and high school counselors, faculty funding, and selectivity in admissions,” Adamczyk explains. 

MIT placed fifth in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 best college rankings, reports CBS This Morning. 

WBUR’s Zeninjor Enwemeka reports that MIT has been named one of the top schools in the country for entrepreneurs. Enwemeka notes that, “for undergraduate schools that produce venture-backed entrepreneurs, MIT ranks third with 907 entrepreneurs and $16.1 billion raised.”

MIT was named to the top four of The Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings teaching pillar, reports Linda Nordling for the Times Higher Education. Nordling notes that MIT, “draws on technology to prime its offering,” and, “uses data analysis to investigate how people learn and is feeding the insights into teaching practice.”

Wall Street Journal reporter Melissa Korn writes that MIT has earned a No. 2 ranking in Times Higher Education’s list of universities with the best reputations. 

MIT was named the top university in the world for the sixth consecutive year in the QS World University Rankings, reports Kyle Scott Clauss for Boston Magazine. 

Inside Higher Ed reporter Scott Jaschik writes that MIT was awarded second place in a, “global list of the top utility patents (awarded by the U.S. for a process, machine, manufacture or composition of matter) awarded in 2016.”

MIT was named one of “America’s Best Employers” in Forbes’ annual ranking of the top 500 workplaces around the country, reports CBS Boston. 

The Sloan School of Management was honored in the Financial Times’ annual executive education rankings. Laurent Ortmans and Patricia Nilsson note that nearly half of the participants in Sloan’s executive education program “had an MBA, double the average for all ranked schools. Nearly two-thirds of students worked at partner level or higher compared with an average of 36 per cent.”

A new study finds that MIT offers students the best value for their money, reports Will Norris for Boston Magazine. “The study found that MIT, with its plentiful grant and scholarship opportunities and a cool $78,300 average starting salary for graduates, affords students the ‘best value’ of any school in the country,” writes Norris. 

MIT’s School of Architecture + Planning has been named the world’s top architecture school by QS University Rankings for the third year in a row, reports Madeline Billis of Boston Magazine. MIT received a total of 98 points when judged on categories including academic and employer reputations and research citations from the previous year.

MIT has been ranked the number two university in the world in U.S. News & World Report’s list of the best global universities, writes Kyle Scott Claus for Boston Magazine. 

MIT was named the number one midsize school in the Northeast in The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rankings. MIT took the number two spot in the overall rankings.
