The Department of Defense has formally opened its second Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx) near MIT, according to the Associated Press. “The roughly year-old DIUx program is meant to help the military better identify emerging technologies.”

Curt Woodward writes for The Boston Globe that Bernadette Johnson, chief technology officer at Lincoln Laboratory, has been named the chief science officer for the Cambridge branch of the Defense Department’s Defense Innovation Unit-Experimental (DIUx).
