Catalan leaders

On June 19, MIT Executive Vice President and Treasurer Israel Ruiz (right) and Aeronautics and Astronautics Department Head Jaume Peraire (left) hosted a campus reception for Artur Mas, president of the Generalitat de Catalunya. More than 80 students, faculty and researchers from MIT and other local institutions attended the event at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. Mas; other Catalan government officials, including Finance and Knowledge Minister Andreu Mas-Colell and Health Minister Boi Ruiz; and Catalan technical and financial leaders were in town to attend the Boston Biotech Convention. Catalonia is home to a quarter of all Spanish biotechnology companies.
