51 community members to receive Institute Awards

Students, faculty and staff will be honored at May 9 ceremony.

On Wednesday, May 9, the MIT community will gather together at the Institute Awards Convocation to honor the contributions of 51 students, faculty and staff from across the Institute.

The Awards Convocation comprises 28 of the Institute's most prestigious awards, honoring the arts, athletics, student life, community service, academics and teaching.

"This is one of my favorite events of the whole year," said Dean of Student Life Chris Colombo. "If you have never been, I encourage you to come and listen to the accomplishments of all these great people in the midst of our community."

Colombo, along with President Susan Hockfield and other senior officers will present the awards at the 2012 Institute Awards Convocation at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, in 10-250. A reception will follow in Lobby 10 immediately following the ceremony. All members of the MIT community are invited to attend.
