Picnic to welcome Colombo, unveil new Ashdown House

All MIT students, faculty and staff are invited to welcome the new dean for student life, Chris Colombo, and to explore the new Ashdown House during a picnic on Monday, Sept. 8.

The celebration, which will run from noon to 2 p.m. at 235 Albany St., will highlight the new graduate student community, which includes private outdoor gardens and the relocated Hulsizer and Fabayan Rooms, the Crafts Lounge, and the new Ingram music room.

The event will be held rain or shine, and MIT Parking and Transportation will provide shuttle service to and from Ashdown from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The Northwest Shuttle will run four-minute interval service on MIT's newest buses, which employ "clean diesel" technologies. An express shuttle will also run from the Student Center turnaround at 84 Mass Ave. to Ashdown at four-minute intervals.

The picnic is sponsored by the Office of the President, the Undergraduate Association, and the Graduate Student Council.
