Power outage closes MIT Museum

The MIT Museum and three other MIT buildings were closed on Tuesday, Aug. 9, due to loss of electrical power. Buildings NW12 and NW22 have been reopened. The museum (N52) and N51 are expected to reopen on Thursday, Aug. 11.

Power to the buildings was shut down after water damaged electrical equipment in a basement, according to David McCormick, director of MIT facilities.

A backup generator provides emergency lighting in the buildings, McCormick noted.
